Remove AI labels from TikTok photos and covers

TikTok can mark a photo post, a carousel slide, or a cover when the still image still carries C2PA or XMP. Clean the image in the browser, then upload that file.

JPG, PNG, and WebP are rewritten at the container level, so the pixels stay as they were. AVIF and HEIC are edited in place when the file structure allows it.

When TikTok marks a photo as AI

TikTok’s AI-generated media label shows up on photos and on videos. For a still, the usual file-level reason is the same as on Instagram: a content credential or an XMP packet that survived export. Photo mode, carousels, and the still you pick as a cover are all images this tool can clean.

A label on a video is a different container. C2PA can live inside the MP4, and this page does not parse or rewrite video. Re-exporting video without that credential is a job for an editor, not for an image metadata remover.

Clean a TikTok photo before you post

  1. 1

    Export each slide

Save the JPEG, PNG, or WebP you will upload. If a slide was screenshotted out of an editor, the metadata may already be gone, and a pixel watermark may still be there.

  2. 2

    Run it through the tool

Drop up to 30 images. The report names C2PA, XMP, EXIF, GPS, and PNG text. The remover on the homepage is the same engine.

  3. 3

    Upload the cleaned slides

Send the new files to your phone and pick those in TikTok photo mode. Do not pick the originals from the gallery by habit.

Covers

A custom cover is often a still image chosen from the camera roll. If that still came from an AI export, clean it before you select it as the cover. A cover frame grabbed from the video itself is not a separate file you can strip here.

Cross-posting a finished image to Instagram later is the same file again. Clean once, then send that copy to each app. The Instagram guide covers Stories and Reels separately because those uploads are easy to mix up with the video.

What this does not change

TikTok can label media from a classifier or from a watermark in the pixels. Removing metadata will not clear those. It will not edit a post that is already public. Disclosure rules can still apply to the content even when the file is quiet. Read the disclaimer.

Questions

How do I remove an AI label from a TikTok photo?

Clean the image with the tool on this page and upload the cleaned file as a new post. The app does not offer a metadata editor, and deleting the label on a live post is not something a browser tool can do remotely.

Does this work on TikTok videos?

No. The tool handles still images only. A credential stored in an MP4 stays there.

Will the photo look softer?

JPG, PNG, and WebP are not recompressed. The pixels of those files stay as they were. GPS and other EXIF fields are removed with the AI records.

The checker is empty and TikTok still labels the post. Why?

The signal is not in the metadata this tool can see. It may be a pixel watermark, a classifier, or a mark attached to an earlier upload of the same video.
