CapCut covers, stills, and AI labels

CapCut’s AI effects live mostly in a video timeline. This tool cannot open that video. A cover image or a PNG you exported might contain ordinary metadata, and it might contain nothing an AI label would read. Check the still. Do not expect a hidden C2PA block just because the template said AI.

Clean on this device

JPG, PNG, and WebP are rewritten at the container level, so the pixels stay as they were. AVIF and HEIC are edited in place when the file structure allows it.

The in-app label and the file are different

CapCut can show AI tools in the editor, and TikTok can label a video after you post it. Neither of those facts means the JPEG you saved as a cover contains C2PA. I am not confident CapCut writes a content credential into still exports. Many exports are simply re-encoded images with little or no metadata. The honest test is the checker.

If the checker finds EXIF, XMP, PNG text, or a content credential, the remover on this page can delete those records. If the checker is empty, running the remover will not change how TikTok classifies the video. A pixel effect or an in-app flag is not stored in an EXIF tag.

Cover frames grabbed from the video itself are chosen inside TikTok or CapCut after the fact. Cleaning a sidecar JPEG does not change that frame. The TikTok guide is about photo posts and cover stills you actually upload as images.

When a CapCut still is worth cleaning

  1. 1

    Export the still on purpose

Save a JPG, PNG, or WebP from the project if the thing you will upload is an image. Do not expect this page to accept the MP4.

  2. 2

    Read it

Look for GPS left over from a camera clip’s thumbnail, XMP, PNG text, or C2PA. Any of those can be absent.

  3. 3

Strip only if something is there

The tool above removes whatever of those records the file has. It will say if the pixels were left unchanged.

  4. 4

    Treat the video as uncleaned

Posting the MP4 can still produce an AI label. Metadata work on a cover does not propagate backward into the video.

Do not use an empty cover as proof

A clean cover and a labeled video can happen together. The label is about the video TikTok received. This site does not rewrite video.

Questions

Can this remove a CapCut AI label from a video?

No. The tool handles still images only. An MP4 is unchanged, including any credential stored inside it.

Do CapCut PNGs contain C2PA?

Do not assume they do. Check the export. Many are just re-encoded images.

I used an AI template. Is the metadata automatic?

The template’s label in the editor is not automatically a metadata block in the file you export. Inspect the file.

Does cleaning the cover change the TikTok post?

Only the image you upload as a cover or a photo. It does not edit a video that is already posted or a video you upload beside it.
